Coach Criteria
Must be a minimum age of 21 by June 1st2026
Have Special Olympics International Coaches Certification in the sport(s) for which you are applying for.
Must be currently a Level 3 certified coachor willing to complete the required training. SORI will assist in helping the selected coach reach this level.
Have knowledge of the skills and rules applicableto the sport(s) you are applying for.
Have a minimum of 2 consecutive years’ coaching experience in the sport(s) you are applying for.
Must be committed to attend the USA Games for its entire duration.
Have experience, including overnight experience, in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Produce and oversee athlete training programs prior to the USA Games.
Attend all meetings, training, andcompetitions scheduled within the state or region.
Must be willing and able to serve as both sport specific coach and athlete chaperone for all Team RI activities leading up to and during the USA Games. This includes 24/day supervision ofathletes during the USA Games.
Agree to abide by all rules and regulations established by the 2026 USA Games.
Been a Class A volunteer with Special Olympics RI for 2 consecutive years.
Be able to function within tight time restraints and a demanding schedule.
Must abide by the Special Olympics RI Coaches Code of Conduct.
