  • The Special Olympics RI Softball Skills Tournament at Whipple Field in Smithfield will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

    After eight weeks of training, beginner level athletes of all ages will compete at several stations to demonstrate their skills in hitting, throwing, fielding and base running. All will be placed in divisions by ability level and will be awarded medals at the end of the competition.

    Volunteers are needed to set up and coordinate the skills stations, do the scoring, and cheer on the athletes.

    Volunteer Hours: 9am-2pm

    • Knowledge of softball/baseball is helpful but not needed.

    • Volunteers must be 16 years old or older.

    • Lunch will be provided.

    • 20 volunteer slots available.
