  2. 2023 Summer Games Youth Leadership Experience
Students from across the state of Rhode Island will participate in a three (3) day, Youth Leadership Experience at Special Olympics Rhode Island's State Summer Games. Students must be over the age of 14 and parents must sign off on a parental waiver. Any applying students must be able to stand for long periods of time and withstand being in the heat/sun. Personal needs can and will be accommodated, once communicated.

The major areas of focus will include:
Advocacy & Storytelling: Use their experience and voice through social media to advocate for Special Olympics athletes being brave in the attempt for the gold.
Practical Knowledge & Meaningful Involvement: Learn skills and have hands-on experience from long-term Game Management Team volunteers while also being given the chance to ask questions and gaining a deeper understanding of both the programming and the organization as a whole.
Professional Development: The opportunity to network and communicate with individuals within the organization on a staffing level as well as a volunteer base to explore career options and volunteer opportunities post-graduation.
