A Message From Michael Walter

On Dec. 4th & 5th, I’m going to be "Freezin for a Reason” as an "Honorary Member" of the Super Plunge Team and trying my best to plunge as many times as I can on both of those days at Salty Brine Beach in Narragansett. I can't believe that this will be the 14th year that I've been taking the plunge to help support Special Olympics RI and this year, I have challenged myself to plunge multiple times during this two-day event. In 2020, due to the pandemic, the Super Plunge Team was only able to do one plunge. I was unable to join them due to being very sick from COVID-19. This year, I hope to do at least 11 plunges over the two days of the event. Any type of donation that you can give would be greatly appreciated and maybe you can come down to watch me take one of my plunges into the "Icy Water". Thanks to the continued generosity of so family and friends, I was able to raise $9600 in 2020. My goal for 2021 is to not only to increase the number of plunges that I take each day, but to also raise $10,000 to celebrate the 14th Anniversary of this event! With your continued support, I hope I can achieve my goal! I have been participating in Special Olympics Rhode Island for 34 years, competing in basketball, bowling, bocce, track & field and unified golf. Special Olympics has taught me about sports, friendships and that I can do anything if I put my heart into it. These opportunities to compete in my favorite sports are made possible by the generous support of people like yourselves. Special Olympics relies on individuals, volunteers and businesses to support its year-round programs of sports training and athletic competitions in 21 different sports. Your donation is very important to me and the over 4,000 athletes who "Inspire Greatness" every day on and off the playing fields. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you do not like to do these things over the internet, but would still like to support me, you can send a check payable to Special Olympics Rhode Island to me at 8 Teakwood Ln., Barrington, RI 02806. Sending it directly to me will ensure that your check gets credited properly to my fundraising goal. Many thanks for your ongoing support and generosity. Please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate to help me reach my goal in 2021! Thank you for being a fan of Special Olympics Rhode Island!
