A Message From Sean Silva
Life has definitely had it's share of challenges, and the past two have been no exception. The pandemic has affected so many people in so many ways, in particular the special peoples community. Even in the hard times, giving can still bring one so much joy. By donating and supporting me and my team (the Pawtucket Pacers) you are multi tasking your contribution. You see by donating, you not only help my team you are also providing much needed funds to enable the team to be creative in the activities and events that can be offered while society continues to work through a global pandemic. The special needs community is one that has been hit the hardest. Imagine being home, not being able to receive services, to go anywhere, to see your friends or fellow athletes and to only be able to go from one room to another in your home. It has not been easy. Thankfully, with the vaccinations being available and so many receiving them, slowly but surely we have been able to begin to gather in small groups with safety precautions in place to do a few activities which have been modified to help keep us all healthy. It has been a warm welcome to such a difficult period of time.
I have been a member of the team and an athlete with the Special Olympics for almost ten years now, and it has truly been a blessing. It has had such a positive impact on my life socially, physically, mentally, and emotionally. They have helped me a)believe in myself; b) believe in my abilities; and c) learn first hand what it means to be a part of a team, just to name a few ways in which it has helped me be who I am today.
Being a part of a team also means that you need to do your part, which is why I am participating in the Celebrate Movement because I want to do my part to help bring awareness to all the amazing athletes who are not only are a part of my team but also a part of the Rhode Island Special Olympics, as well as raise funds so that all of us can have opportunities to learn, grow and have fun just like you.
Will you please prayerfully consider helping out? Trust me, every penny counts.
If you have any questions, I will try to answer them the best I can.
Thank you from my heart, Sean Timothy
