A Message From Tammy David
I am a retired East Providence Police Officer and co-director for the Torchrun committee. Most importantly, I am a mom of a Special Olympics athlete. My son, Cote, has been an athlete for 13 years. He competes in downhill skiing, track and unified sports. I have been involved with the Torchrun events for 19 years helping raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes. This year, I was a partner with the Wampanoag Warriors unified basketball team. Being part of the Torchrun is one of the most rewarding parts of my law enforcement career! I will be plunging into the freezing ocean in March with EPPD to support the athletes in their year round sports. Thank you for helping me support the athletes.

In Support of Special Olympics RI
Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Rhode Island is one of the state’s most dynamic programs, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts over 40 statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 20 official and demonstration sports.
