Hi Friends! My name is Mary-Ellen Powers. I am a Special Olympics Rhode Island athlete who participates in Unified Bowling and Swimming on the Bristol County Baysiders team. I am also the Athlete Leadership Specialist & Administrative Assistant for Special Olympics Rhode Island. This year marks my 25th year as a Special Olympics athlete. In honor of this milestone year, I will take the plunge THREE TIMES over the course of Plunge Weekend to benefit Special Olympics Rhode Island! First, On Saturday, March 23rd with my niece Maggie and her friends from Bay View Academy for the Unified Champion Schools plunge. Later that evening I will take the plunge at sunset alongside my boyfriend Michael Bullock and the other brave people who are participating in the 24-hour Super Plunge. My third and final plunge will take place with my friends…the Arctic Athletes on Sunday, March 24th for the Torch Run Plunge! All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit over 3,500 athletes like myself who participate in Special Olympics Rhode Island. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!
