I am a Special Olympics RI athlete teaming up with the East Providence Police department to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics RI athletes by plunging into the freezing ocean on March 24th. I have been an athlete since I was 7 yrs old when I started with the first Young athletes program. I have competed in track, swimming, downhill skiing, and unified basketball. Special Olympics has provided opportunities for me to speak at the RI municipal police academy and the RI State Police academy. I’ve also been able to travel with the Special Olympics ski team to Waterville Valley to compete in the regional downhill ski races. Last year, I joined the first Athlete University at SORI. I hope to become a better speaking ambassador. Over the last 13+ yrs, Special Olympics has helped me build my confidence and grow through sport in a healthy inclusive environment. This year, I will be taking on a new challenge of Honorary Super Plunger! I will plunge between 7-10 times into the Freezing Ocean with the Torchrun Super Plunge Team! Wish me Luck.
