A Message From Malissa Lima

If you know me you know! My son Tyler has lived with Autism, similar to Aspergers, his whole life. In turn, we all have — me, his dad, his little brother, his grandparents and aunts, etc. Autism comes with a host of other things such as, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression and more. My boy has proved me wrong time and time again! With the right services, many groups, many organizations (i.e. The Autism Project), much counseling and many counselors he has overcome obstacles beyond our wildest dreams! He is now almost 19 and attending the University of Connecticut. He lives there and he is doing better than we could imagine. To be honest, at one point I didn’t think he would be able to attend public schools. He is my hero, my superhero! He is my everything. I am also a Special Education Para at Old County Road School where I put my life experience to good use. I love all of my special needs students as well as the neurotypical ones and wouldn’t trade it for the world! Tyler prepared me for my calling. With understanding, compassion, patience and love these kids can accomplish amazing things!! Please support me in taking a very cold plunge for inclusion!! Thank you in advance! Malissa
