A Message From Salve Men's Rugby Team

For the second year in a row, the Salve Regina University Men's Rugby Team is taking the plunge—literally! Saturday, March 22nd our team will be braving the icy waters of the Atlantic to raise critical funds for Special Olympics Unified Sports at Coventry High School. This cause is especially close to our hearts. One of our own players, Nathan, has experienced firsthand the transformative power of inclusive sports through his younger brother. The joy, confidence, and sense of belonging that Special Olympics programs provide aren't just life-changing for participants—they strengthen our entire community. Unified Sports brings together people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition. Your donations will help expand these vital programs at Coventry High, ensuring more students have access to the equipment, transportation, and coaching they need.

Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island is one of the state’s most dynamic programs, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts over 40 statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 20 official and demonstration sports.
