A Message From Matthew Moynihan

A Message from Matthew Moynihan Anyone who knows me knows two things: I don’t like being cold, and I definitely don’t like cold water. So why would I willingly jump into Narragansett Bay 24 times in 24 hours in March… again? Because some causes are worth being uncomfortable for. It only takes one visit to a Special Olympics event to see the incredible determination, resilience, and heart of these athletes. Watching them compete is truly inspiring. Their drive to succeed—regardless of the challenge—serves as a powerful reminder that we can all push beyond our comfort zones to make a meaningful difference. This year, I’m proud to once again commit to the 24-Hour Torch Run Super Plunge in support of Special Olympics Rhode Island. Beginning on Saturday, March 21, I’ll join a dedicated team of Super Plungers entering the icy waters at Salty Brine State Beach every hour, on the hour, for 24 straight hours. Our overall team goal is to raise $130,000 to support more than 4,000 athletes across Rhode Island. My personal fundraising goal is $8,000, and I’m asking for your help to get there. Every donation directly supports year-round sports training, wellness programs, and inclusive opportunities that empower athletes of all abilities to reach their full potential. Whether you choose to donate, share this page, or cheer us on from the beach, your support truly matters. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps move us closer to that goal. Thank you for standing with us and for supporting Special Olympics Rhode Island. Together, we can continue to make a difference—one plunge at a time. Let’s do this!!!!
