This is my first year as a local program director for the Johnston Heat Special Olympics Team. ( I have coached since I was 16) This is not only a new role , this has been a new beginning to teach, be taught, to hear, to listen, to be brave in attempts that we may or may not win not only in sports , but in life in general. We do have assistant coach Amanda Morton taking the penguin plunge who has posted her plan to do so. I ask that whatever team you donate to this year, donate with the heart and mindset of knowing we would not be anywhere if our athletes/ friends did not guide us daily. The Johnston Heat has been formed from the ground up starting with one athlete and now we are gaining athletes monthly and continue to do so. Our coaches are so amazing. This year I’m hoping my friends and family will join , or video me in my fancy shorts for the FIRST TIME EVER , WHEN I TAKE THE PLUNGE ON JAN 1, 2027… (with the other HEAT COACHES) LET’S GO HEAT!
