A Message From Portsmouth Police Dept
The Portsmouth Police Team is proud to support Special Olympics Rhode Island by raising money and awareness for the incredible athletes who represent our state.
This year, we will be participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Plunge, joining law enforcement officers and public safety partners from across Rhode Island as we brave the icy ocean waters in support of these amazing athletes.
Our team is taking the plunge to represent the dedication, determination, and perseverance shown by Special Olympics athletes every day. These athletes train hard, compete with pride, and inspire our communities through their courage and commitment.
Any support you can provide helps fund year-round sports training, competitions, and programs that empower athletes with intellectual disabilities across Rhode Island.
Thank you for supporting our athletes and helping us make a difference!

In Support of Special Olympics RI
Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Rhode Island is one of the state’s most dynamic programs, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts over 40 statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 20 official and demonstration sports.
