A Message From Jolene Alves
This is my second Super Walk. Why am I doing this (torturing myself) again? Because this is bigger than me. Bigger than the blisters on my feet. Bigger than than the sweat stains on my t-shirt. But certainly not bigger than the smiles and hugs I get from our Special Olympics Athletes and the way I feel, knowing that the steps I am able to take bring us closer to a world of inclusion. The walk is not what makes this special and humbling - it's the journey.
Please help by donating to this awesome event. I will be putting one foot in front of the other (many, many times) on behalf of the the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, The Cumberland Police Department, The Rhody Rangers, and ALL of the amazing Athletes I hope to see at Celebrate the Movement!

Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Rhode Island is one of the state’s most dynamic programs, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts over 40 statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 20 official and demonstration sports.
