A Message From Jim Baum

A Message From JIM BAUM We are walking again for 24 hours straight to honor and support the amazing Special Olympics athletes and their families as well as all of the volunteers! This is the 4th year in a row and this time we are doing loops around Providence and then joining the Special Olympics Celebrate the Movement in Garden City. It's an honor to be involved with Special Olympics. I currently serve on the Torch Run Committee. I have also been volunteering for the past 23 years as a coach with North Kingstown Special Olympics. I currently coach powerlifting with a team of the best coaches in the State. Aside from all of the State Records and personal bests, the greatest thing is to see the athletes and their families realize that anything is possible. That's why we are doing this again and that's why we need your support. The past walks have been incredibly successful - that's all because of your generosity and commitment to Special Olympics. If you would like to support us, you can make a donation on this page. It's simple, fast and totally secure. Or, you can help by sending us a check made out to "Special Olympics Rhode Island" and send to: 370 George Washington Hwy, Smithfield RI 02917. Thank you for your continued support to keep the Torch burning for all at Special Olympics. Please forward to those you think would donate or consider posting the link on social media. Jim

Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island is one of the state’s most dynamic programs, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts over 40 statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 20 official and demonstration sports.
