Family, friends, and continued generous supports, it is hard to believe that on March 22nd-223rd I will be participating in my 10th, yes 10th Torch Run Super Plunge to benefit the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Rhode Island. Over the past 10 years WE have raised so much awareness and money for an amazing organization. All the money WE raise insures that NO athlete will ever be charged a fee to participate in any of the over 25 sporting events that take place year round. What is the Torch Run Super Plunge? It is plunging 24 times, once an hour on the hour for 24 hours into the ice cold Atlantic Ocean down at Salty Brine State beach. Why plunge? The athletes in my picture is WHY. They come out every year and participate in the final plunge with the Team. My involvement with SORI started back in 2010 when I a member of the Woonsocket Fire Department as the liaison to the Law Enforcement Torch Run committee. Since that time I have had many different rolls with both SORI and LETR. I serve as an Associate Director on the LETR committee, to head coach of the Rhody Rangers and last August I joined the staff at SORI as the Director of State Sponsored Sports and Programs. First and foremost, I am a very proud DAD to a Special Olympic Rhode Island athlete. My family can tell you first hand how much SORI has changed our daughters life. Sarah has gone from a shy, no eye contact to an athlete Spokesperson. She now gives speeches, promotes acceptance, inclusion and respect for all athletes. In closing, I can not thank you all enough for your continued support and all the most generous donations over the past 9 years. With this being my FINAL year as a member of the Super Plunge Team, I would like to break all of my fundraising records. With your help I know we can make this happen. #Freezen4aReason Thank you!!!!
