On New Year’s Day, I’m braving the icy waters at Scarborough Beach for the 50th Anniversary Penguin Plunge, all to support the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Rhode Island. Their bravery, joy, and determination inspire me every day, and plunging is my way of helping ensure they continue to thrive on and off the field. This will be my first official Penguin Plunge, and while I’ve taken a winter plunge before in support of the 24-Hour Torch Run Super Plungers, taking the leap on January 1 in the heart of winter will be a true challenge. I’ll spend the morning behind the scenes with my amazing colleagues, helping bring this milestone event to life – then I’ll finish the day the best way possible: by taking the plunge myself. Every donation helps make year-round programs possible for Special Olympics Rhode Island athletes – all at no cost to them or their families.
